The Best Things to Eat on a Royal Caribbean Cruise

food on a cruise royal caribbean

Royal Caribbean requests you send this form at least 30 days before your sail date and they will inform you via e-mail of their decision. A lot of people want to know what you are allowed to bring on a Royal Caribbean cruise, especially food or drinks. Vegetarian meals (including Indian-style vegetarian) are available on all menus in the Dining Room and Windjammer Cafe every day. There is usually limited seating available at these locations, but most guests get the food and then bring it somewhere else on the ship to eat, such as their stateroom or by the pool. It is designed for guests that want something quick to eat on their way to somewhere else. The Windjammer is Royal Caribbean’s main global buffet offering for breakfast, lunch, and usually dinner, but it may be dependent on the sailing.

Voyager of the Seas Specialty Restaurants and Other For-Fee Options

Bringing your own snacks and drinks can save money versus purchasing them onboard or on shore. Royal Caribbean is very accommodating when it comes to guests with special dietary needs. The cruise line can handle a number of requests, such as food allergies, gluten free, Kosher, low-fat, and low-sodium.

With so many choices, often guests preparing for their cruise have many questions about what is included, which options are available and how it all works. What follows is our guide to understanding better the basics of dining on a Royal Caribbean cruise. I am a huge fan of the Dog House found on select ships in the fleet, including the Oasis-class and Quantum-class ships. While it is tough to pick a favorite, if forced, my vote goes to The Big Apple. This dog contains chicken with some hints of apple and is served on a parmesan and cheddar roll.

If your cruise has multiple port days when you’ll be away from the ship, your opportunities to take advantage of the package may be limited. This package also covers non-alcoholic beverages like coffee and tea. You are allowed to bring some bottled water on your cruise, but not an unlimited amount. If you buy alcohol in a port your ship visits, you can bring it onboard, although Royal Caribbean will confiscate it until the last night of the cruise, when it will be returned to you.

Royal Caribbean ships serve up a world of flavors, housing everything from Italian trattorias to American steakhouses and sushi restaurants. Though both Odyssey and Spectrum have an Izumi Sushi location, Teppanyaki is a separate Japanese steakhouse located on Deck 14 on these two ships. Choose from either a single protein or a combo for the fixed-price meal, similar to Izumi Hibachi.

After 10 cruises, here's what I love and hated about sailing with Royal Caribbean and MSC Cruises - Cruise Blog

After 10 cruises, here's what I love and hated about sailing with Royal Caribbean and MSC Cruises.

Posted: Mon, 16 Oct 2023 07:00:00 GMT [source]

The variety of choices on Royal Caribbean is not limited to food, as there's lots of cocktails, beers, and wines to enjoy. You'll sit at a white tablecloth dinner with five exquisite courses, and each is paired with the perfect wine to bring out the flavor on the menu. Royal Caribbean has offered for years the Chef's Table on all of its ships. Individual dishes are great, but what about meals that stand out as an event on its own. The Main Dining Room alone will have food on each night that is inspired by India, Italy, France, and Southeast Asia. With a different theme every night in the Main Dining Room and Windjammer buffet, you'll find a great deal of food from around the world.

I don't really know what I was expecting, but I could immediately tell that it was sugar-free. That being said, it was served warm, and the amount of oatmeal crumble on top was just enough. There were only five shrimp, a relatively small bed of vegetables, and a half scoop of rice. In the case of my tiger shrimp, I found myself wishing that they included more of the sauce. In general, I thought there could've been a little bit more of everything. When his second plate arrived, I noticed some inconsistency in plating.

Best Traditional Puerto Rican Dishes

Depending on the Royal Caribbean ship you sail on, the exact venues will vary, but there are some common options for something small to eat that has no additional cost. All other drinks cost extra, including alcohol, soda, and juices. Traditional dinner is when you pick between early or late seating. Every day your dining time is the same, and your waiters and table mates are the same.

Drink packages are worth it if you drink enough every day of your cruise to "break even" on the package cost. When you think of gourmet dining on Royal Caribbean, inevitably your focus will shift to the specialty restaurants onboard. This is where the line puts its greatest effort in delivering a culinary experience. Nearly all ships feature a selection of alternative restaurants, as well. While some are included in the price, others levy either a set per-person fee or a la carte charges. On the complimentary side, Windjammer, Solarium Bistro and the Main Dining Room are all great lunch options where you’ll find lots of delicious variety.

Royal Caribbean’s specialty restaurants offer a wide range of cuisines, from Italian to Japanese and barbecue. The Main Dining Room will continue to offer a different dinner menu each evening so guests can experience varying selections on the menu each night. Basic beverages -- tap water, iced and hot tea, drip coffee, lemonade and some juices (with breakfast) -- are included in the price of your cruise. For dinner, you'll be assigned to a specific time if you select set seating and choose to eat in the main dining room. The culinary staffs on most mainstream cruise lines' ships are adept at catering to special dietary requirements. If you choose the former, you might also end up sharing a table with other cruisers.

Nightlife is a big part of any cruise vacation, and we offer endless ways to play after dark no matter which ship you’re sailing on. Once you’ve worked up an appetite on the dance floor, satisfy your cravings with delicious bites available late at night. However, for those interested in a more diverse culinary experience, Royal Caribbean does offer specialty restaurants that come at an extra cost.

With that in mind, a cruise ship has to offer more than just a salad bar. Just like how food at a baseball game is more than hot dogs or cracker jack, the food choices on a Royal Caribbean cruise go beyond eating at the buffet. If you haven't noticed by now, I love sauces that enrich the flavors of what I'm eating.

Carnival Magic poor reviews Carnival Cruise Lines Cruise Critic Community

carnival cruise magic reviews

You'll find more free options on Carnival ships than on just about any other fleet's vessels, and they're actually tasty. It's entirely possible to eat only food that's included in the cruise fare and not feel like you're missing out. On my sailing, I stayed in a balcony cabin, which was elegantly decorated in neutrals with blue accents. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of storage space.

(On Promenade deck 5) was added the Alchemy Bar (cocktail pharmacy with resident mixologists). Also here, the Lanai Oceanside Barbeque was replaced by the new fast-food bar named “Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse”. The bar is complimentary and via a partnership with Guy Fieri (running also the “Guy’s Burger Joint” on Lido deck). Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse is an open-air restaurant for a variety of BBQ favorites. The menu features pork butt, blue ribbon chicken, sliced smoked beef, Guy Fieri's traditional sides, and gourmet burgers, a variety of BBQ sauces, hot sauce bar. Signature menu items are named Mac Daddy Mac'n Cheese, Old Skool Potato Salad, Scratch-Made Slaw, Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey, Molasses Baked Beans with Bacon and Burnt Ends.

Ocean Suite

On the far end a big panorama window looks out over the ocean. Both restaurants have big staircases leading to the upper level. The second new show is the "Lone Star Tailgate." Drawing on Texas' love for all things football, Carnival has created four indoor/outdoor "quarters" of fun to mimic the four quarters of a football game. When I sailed, the first quarter, which is all about pool deck games for kids, was held on one sea day, and the other three were held on another sea day. I also missed out on the RedFrog Tiki Bar, a two-deck (decks 16 and 17), hut-style setup that replaces the RedFrog Rum Bar found on many other Carnival ships' pool decks.

Included with your cruise fare:

Feature port destinations included Key West Florida, Jamaica, Nassau, Belize, Mexico (Progreso, Cozumel, Costa Maya), Roatan, Grand Cayman. CCL has the Corporation's largest fleet as number of vessels and GT-tonnage (ship sizes/volumes and passenger capacities). In 2023, CCL had ~9% (by revenue) and ~19% (passengers) share of the cruise industry's worldwide market. In 2024, the parent company (Carnival Corporation) had ~51% stake in the US$64+ billion industry. The 2011-built Carnival Magic cruise ship is one the biggest and Carnival's second DREAM-class liner, together with Breeze, Dream as well as Costa Diadema. Camp Carnival offers all kinds of activities for 2- to 11-year-olds, separated into three age groups (2 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 11).

Unveiled in May 2011, the Carnival Magic is the newest of Carnival’s 23 ships — a significant plus in a segment of travel where newness counts. It also offers extensive children’s facilities, multiple pool areas, and multiple show lounges including a comedy club. Also added were a Dreams Photography Studio and upgrades within the spa. Passengers link credit cards to their onboard accounts or put up a set amount of cash to charge against, using their keycards as a means of making purchases. The only time you might want to have some bills handy is for tipping your room steward, bartenders, room service delivery people, luggage porters or shore excursion guides.

Many people go to Maho Beach to try to see planes landing or taking off over your heads. St. John Champagne is wonderful - that is one excursion I would do again. Lots of shops there also to wander through before you get to sky ride. With more space for stretching out indoors, plus a large balcony for kicking back outdoors, try an Ocean Suite to experience private, luxurious relaxation. Ocean Suites also include VIP check-in, walk-in closet and bathroom with whirlpool tub.

Carnival Jubilee cabins and suites

The Tide bar attends to everybody at the Tide pool, as well as Deli and Tandoor customers. The Magic offers a soda package and a wine package, wherein you can buy several bottles of wine for a special price. There is cabernet from Argentina, pinot noir from the US, Bordeaux from France, and Chianti from Italy. La Cucina offers a special Chianti, which is smooth, not too fruity, and just the perfect pairing for your pasta.

Travel Troubleshooter: I accidentally paid twice for my hotel. Can I get a refund?

I have been on many Carnival Cruises, my first time on the Magic. I am growing increasingly concerned because the reviews I am reading are so poor. I considered a different cruise line but decided to book this cruise. Many reviews I am reading say how Carnival has really gone down hill. My last cruise with Carnival was in 2021, so not that long ago. Please comfort my worries and tell me these are just a fluke.

A version of this chef Emeril Lagasse-affiliated spot is on each of Carnival's Excel Class ships, bearing the hull number of the original vessel for which the new one is named. Simply walk up to order at the counter, have a seat and a waiter will take over from there. Fully accessible rooms are stair-free, flat-threshold cabins, which offer wider (32-inch) doorways, turning space and bathrooms equipped with grab bars and shower seats. Pay a fee to ride, and you (or you and a friend) can navigate two laps of twists and turns around the ship's funnel as you use the throttle and hyper-boost buttons to try to break the day's speed record.

Another time, the printed daily had the wrong theater show listed for that night; the correct one was posted in the HUB. On another day, the printed schedule was missing part four of a four-part show, which did show up on the agenda in the app. One afternoon later in the sailing, two different crew members approached me a total of six times in less than half an hour while I was having lunch on the Lido deck. The first five times, I simply said, "No, thanks." After the sixth time, I had enough and told them nicely but firmly to stop asking me.

Meanwhile, lines at the onboard deli and pizzeria counters frequently snake so far down Deck 8 that they block the entrance to seafood restaurant Rudi's Seagrill. One night, as I was dining at Rudi's with some of my travel companions, we joked that the lines were dangerously close to melding with the line for the nearby guest services desk. Although it's often loud, busy and difficult to navigate, especially on sea days, it's a prime place to sit and people-watch.

The lounges have varying decors, with everything from vibrant to muted colors. Carnival’s newest vessel has one of its biggest ever WaterWorks water parks, with two giant water slides. The Drainpipe swirls around into an enormous funnel; the Twister is shaped like a giant corkscrew. To get into both slides, you’ll have to climb steep steps. This may take a little courage if you're afraid of heights, but they're fun and worth a try. Cloud 9 has a thalassotherapy pool with ionized water, warmed to a muscle-relaxing 91 degrees, complete with jets to blast away the pain.

Balcony cabins on the Carnival Magic are long and narrow. Upon entering the room, there are closet compartments on one side of the door and a bathroom on the other side, creating a narrow walkway to the main bed area of the room. On one side of this main bed area is a smallish couch that can be used as a bed, along with a coffee table. Opposite is a long, built-in desk area with vanity, drawers, and a little cabinet. There is a flat-screen television mounted to the wall over this cabinet.

At the pool bar you can get a special pina colada with melon and blue curacao, just the right thing to cool you off. Chef's Table has space for 12 people and you have to make a reservation. The cover charge of $80 includes four appetizers, six entrées, a dessert, wine pairing, and a cookbook with recipes from each of Carnival's executive chefs.

If the answer is yes, read the reviews and make a decision. We are sailing on her in December for our once a year sailing with our elderly parents. In all our cruises this will be our first time on her. Good to see all the positive things people are saying. I take most reviews with a grain of salt and don't just accept them at face value.

Titanic Vs Modern Cruise Ship: Comparison Of Design & Safety

titanic vs cruise ships today

I have been cruising since 2004 and have sailed on dozens of cruises all over the world. As the creator of this website, I want to help families plan fun cruises free of stress and filled with adventure! With over 7 years of experience in the cruise industry, she brings a blend of insightful reporting and firsthand cruising knowledge. Wonder of the Seas, at her widest, is an astonishing 210 feet wide and clocks in at more than double the width of Titanic.

Titanic vs Cruise Ship Comparison (Size, Cabins, and More)

titanic vs cruise ships today

The luxury experience on modern cruise ships is very different from what it was like on the Titanic. While the Titanic was considered to be one of the most luxurious ships of its time, it was designed as a passenger liner. Its goal was to get you to your destination as quickly and as comfortably as possible. As such they have much more advanced amenities, such as swimming pools, spas, and multiple restaurants. Additionally, modern cruise ships are much larger and can accommodate many more passengers, which allows for more diverse and exciting entertainment options. The Titanic, infamously known for its lack of lifeboats, has been compared to modern cruise ships since its sinking in 1912.

Stabilizers and state-of-the-art navigation systems for enhanced safety

Now, she helps over 1 million people per month to plan their perfect cruise holidays. On the Titanic, there was 1 crew member for every 2.7 passengers, while on Icon of the Seas that ratio becomes 1 crew to every 3.2 passengers. The newest locks in the Panama Canal have a set of restrictions that ships cannot exceed if they want to be able to sail through. And if we look at the Silver Shadow, she is 79 feet wide – around 85% of the width of the Titanic. Today’s cabins all have individual bathrooms (not even the first-class rooms on the Titanic had those), are kitted out nicely, and don’t fall under class distinctions. Fearing cruises because of what happened to the Titanic is like refusing to fly because Amelia Earhart disappeared.

The Number of Decks on the Titanic vs Cruise Ship?

Since the Titanic sank, there have been many changes to safety measures on cruise ships. For example, modern cruise ships have lifeboats for every passenger, as well as advanced safety systems, such as fire suppression systems and advanced navigation technology. Additionally, there are now strict regulations in place to ensure that cruise ships are safe and well-maintained. One of the biggest differences between the Titanic and modern cruise ships is the technology that is used. The Titanic was built in 1912, and at that time, there were no radar systems, satellite communication, or other advanced technologies that modern cruise ships have. Additionally, modern cruise ships have much more advanced safety features and emergency procedures in place.

Water Features Galore

Second-class passengers slept on bunk beds, with two or four cabins per stateroom. Bunk beds are still standard on cruise ships, especially in family-sized staterooms. When you think of the most famous cruise ship in history, what ship do you envision? Let’s see how Titanic vs. modern cruise ship compares, including the world’s largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas. Despite these tragic incidents, cruising remains a relatively safe form of travel, especially when compared to historical standards.

Since then, this nautical marvel has made hundreds of transatlantic crossings between England and New York City every year. The interior salon of the ship also exudes classic elegance that many vacationers have come to love over time. It includes an art deco library, a grand ballroom, and exquisite restaurants serving fine cuisine. Unfortunately, Costa Cruises' Costa Concordia capsized off the coast of Italy in 2012. While not as deadly as the Titanic's sinking one hundred years earlier, this incident resulted in some modifications to the safety guidelines within the cruise industry. The Titanic's most luxurious suites were comprised of two bedrooms, an ensuite bathroom, and a separate parlor room.

Titanic vs. Modern Cruise Ship: Speed

The Act also required ships to maintain contact with vessels in their vicinity and coastal onshore radio stations. Additionally, the firing of red flares from a ship was agreed to be interpreted as a sign of distress. Even the Royal Caribbean and Carnival have dedicated kids’ programs, activities, and drinks packages.

Allure Of The Seas Vs. Titanic

As of 2024, the Icon of the Seas holds the title of the world’s largest cruise ship. It stretches a massive 1,196 ft (364 m) in length and stands at 196 ft. (60 m) tall. Today, the entertainment options on cruise ships are extensive and much more diverse.

Gone are the days when passengers had to settle for limited outdoor spaces on ocean liners like the Titanic. Modern cruise ships feature expansive sun decks adorned with multiple pools and hot tubs strategically placed throughout the ship. Whether you seek relaxation or want to soak up some sun while enjoying breathtaking views of the open sea, these luxurious outdoor areas provide ample space for everyone to unwind in style.

Additionally, modern cruise ships are required to have enough lifeboats and life rafts to accommodate all passengers and crew. These lifeboats are equipped with essential supplies such as food, water, and medical equipment to ensure that passengers and crew can survive in the event of an emergency. SOLAS is still in effect today and requires modern cruise ships to have a variety of safety features, including lifeboats, life rafts, and other emergency equipment. Contrasting this, modern cruise ships offer various dining experiences that do not depend on passenger class. Guests can choose from many dining options, including buffet-style dining, specialty restaurants (Italian, Mexican, Asian cuisines, etc.), and even 24-hour eateries. For example, you could enjoy spaghetti carbonara at an Italian restaurant, sushi at an Asian bistro, or a late-night burger at a diner.

titanic vs cruise ships today

By actively involving passengers in these drills, they become more aware of their surroundings and better equipped to handle unforeseen situations. This proactive approach significantly enhances overall safety onboard modern cruise ships. Entertainment plays a crucial role in creating memorable experiences onboard modern cruise ships. Today’s vessels offer an array of cutting-edge entertainment options that surpass anything available on the Titanic. Passengers can indulge in world-class theaters featuring Broadway-style productions or catch the latest blockbuster movies in cinemas equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual technology. The Titanic was about 882 feet long, while the largest cruise ship today is around 1,184 feet long.

After the disaster, both the British and American Boards of Inquiry recommended that ships must carry enough lifeboats for everyone on board. These recommendations were incorporated into the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea passed in 1914. The passengers and crew were in a state of panic as the ship started to sink. There weren’t enough lifeboats for everyone on board and many people were left stranded on the sinking ship.

The modern cruises are the hub of facilities and entertainment, and they feel like a floating city. That’s why when I feel exhausted from my bustling life, I hop on these cruises to chill and relax for some time. Nonetheless, if you mention cruise ships to someone who is new to cruising, inevitably the Titanic references usually follow. So if your baseline for understanding what a cruise ship is is based on a vessel that sailed over 100 years ago, here is a look at how much different big ships are now. Cruise lines also offer a variety of shore excursions and other activities designed to give passengers a taste of local culture and attractions.

And it’s interesting to note that, with the dimension restrictions set at 168 feet wide and 1,201 feet long, the Titanic would have been able to sail these locks quite easily. But the Silver Shadow, one of the smaller luxury ships, isn’t quite as dramatic a difference. She’s 610 feet long, which puts her at around two-thirds of the length of the Titanic. That might still sound significant, but we’re talking about one of the very smallest ships of 300 that currently sail. The steel that comprises a ship’s hull is different, even if you don’t factor in the too-high sulfur content of the Titanic’s hull.

The impact of the collision resulted in a large hole being ripped into the vessel’s hull, causing it to take on water rapidly. They’re not just bigger; they’re safer and packed with amenities that the Titanic’s passengers could only dream of. But even with all these advancements, the Titanic still holds a unique place in our hearts. Today’s cruise ships are incredible, but they owe a nod to the grand old lady of the sea – the Titanic. Modern cruise ships are often two, three, four, or even five times larger than the Titanic in most respects. Although cruise ship food has historically had a bad reputation, modern cruise lines have greatly improved the dining experience.

The Titanic used coal-fired engines, which produced a lot of smoke and ash. In contrast, modern cruise ships use diesel-electric engines, which are more fuel-efficient and produce less pollution. The Titanic, one of the most famous ships in history, has long been a subject of fascination and comparison to modern cruise ships. While the Titanic was once considered the epitome of luxury and technological advancement, modern cruise ships have surpassed it in every way. Changes in shipbuilding have allowed modern cruise ships to far surpass the height and tonnage of the Titanic.

As well as the above-mentioned shows which are performed during most cruises, there’s often a featured entertainer. Usually, these are singers putting on a one-man (or woman) show, and they’re often performers with Broadway or Las Vegas credits under their belt.

First of all, I loved the Gem - the ship is perfectly sized for me. It was easy to get around, and there were lots of areas to sit and hang out with a book and a drink. My favorite was the Spinnaker Lounge early in the morning with a book and a cup of coffee (you can get coffee right around the corner at the Bali Hai bar in the mornings). The whole giant room would be empty or nearly empty and you could grab a couch right at the front of the ship and just relax and read while looking out through floor-to-ceiling windows - stunning! All the seating in the Spinnaker was super nice and cozy.

Your stateroom may be on any deck and assigned up to one day prior to embarkation. A Sail Away Oceanview stateroom guarantees an Oceanview stateroom or better! Please note that the view may be fully obstructed, partially obstructed, porthole or picture window. A Sail Away Balcony stateroom guarantees a Balcony stateroom or better!

These Mini-Suites sleep up to four guests, making them ideal if you want to bring the kids. Not to mention you'll have a private balcony to enjoy the incredible view. Some can connect, perfect when travelling with family or friends. They have one bedroom with a queen-size bed and a luxury bath and shower, as well as a separate children's bedroom. Up to six guests can stay in these luxurious Penthouses that include a bedroom with a queen-size bed and a separate childrens bedroom. In addition to the living area, dining area, private balcony and luxury bath with separate shower.

Looking for a getaway without the need to fly far, then Norwegian has options for you. The cruise line has ships leaving from New York, Boston, Miami, New Orleans and Seattle. What is the Best Way to Get from the Airport to Port Galveston?

The Disney parks are known for their service, and this attention to the passenger experience carries onto Disney’s cruise ship Magic. Staff beam at you as you walk through the halls, and game medals are given with gusto. Servers in the restaurant steer you away from problematic dishes and the entertainment staff get people moving in the disco. And, unless your heart is made of stone, you'll melt at the characters, all pros at child-wrangling, who embrace the outgoing and coax the timid into pictures of a lifetime.

This city and port on the Gulf of Mexico is a very popular resort due to the white sand beaches and the clarity and peacefullness of the waters, which is created by a breakwater close to the shore. Galveston's festivals, special events and attractions are enjoyable for islanders and... Kids must be 6 months to cruise on a regular sailing and 1 year old to go on Panama Canal. Even with its updates, the Disney Magic cruise ship retains a sense of tradition. Like its fleetmates, the vessel sports a nostalgic ocean liner appearance with a navy-blue hull and red funnels (customized with Mickeys, of course).

Night Bahamian Cruise from Galveston ending in San Juan

Houstonians ready to cast off with Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Goofy, and more friends can look forward to Disney Caribbean cruises from Galveston in early 2023, the company announced. For those interested in a brochure, Disney Cruise Line published an updated 2023 Sail Dates & Itineraries booklet. There are also plenty of eating options just off the beach in the hotel district along Galveston Seawall, such as chain restaurants, family-oriented attractions, convenience stores, and grocery shops.

This has happened in the past on 7-night cruises from Galveston but unfortunately, there aren’t any port stops at Disney’s Private Island for the 2023 and 2024 sailings. As to itineraries, Disney Magic sails to the Bahamas, Southern Caribbean and Western Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Galveston, New Orleans, and San Juan. Additionally, sailings from San Diego to Baja California or eastbound to Galveston (and vice versa) through the Panama Canal are also available. Disney Magic no longer offers Mediterranean and Bermuda cruises; those are now available onboard sister ship Disney Dream. Baja Peninsula Getaways from San Diego The Disney Wonder will return to the West Coast, sailing from San Diego in April and May.

While ashore, passengers can enjoy shopping, beach and water activities, or visit attractions such as Stingray City, where they can interact with stingrays in their natural habitat. The natural beauty, paired with the world-class amenities that George Town offers, makes it an unbeatable destination for cruisers departing from Galveston. Sitting just off the gorgeous Yucatan coast, Cozumel revels in its mythic white-sand beaches and world-class coral reefs.

disney cruise galveston 2023

Yet Cozumel is also the last stronghold of the Mayas, who settled the island in 300 A.D. Residents still speak Maya, and sometimes wear traditional Mayan clothing. Galveston, Texas offers everything from entertainment to shopping, to over 32 miles of Gulf Coast beaches. Galveston's festivals, special events and attractions are enjoyable for islanders and tourists alike. Arts and entertainment is as much a part of the area's history as its Victorian architecture, and Galveston sparkles at night, from theater, music and dance, to reggae, rock and country.

On short cruises, there will be one "optional dress up" night, which is generally semiformal. On a seven-night cruise, there will be one "formal" night in addition to a semiformal night. The clothing requirements are actually the same for both formal and semiformal nights; the biggest difference is on formal night when the characters also dress up for photos.

Today, Disney Cruise Line released Early 2023 itineraries with some familiar options as well as some itinerary gaps. A variety of enchanting itineraries will set sail coast-to-coast from U.S. home ports including Miami and Port Canaveral, Florida; New Orleans; Galveston, Texas; and San Diego. Also from Port Canaveral, the Disney Fantasy will begin the year with seven-night sailings to several favorite destinations in the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

Introduced last year, Houston Airports beat out Mumbai International Airport and Singapore Changi International Airport for the award. As part of its commitment to arts programming, Houston Airports recently partnered with the Orange Show to feature an art car at each airport. Travel + Leisure first reported the news, noting that the Disney Magic liner will set sail from Galveston before “going down the bayou” for its debut season in New Orleans.

They also feature linens from the Carnival Comfort Collection, a full private bathroom and more.

Land Vacations

Camp Ocean serves lunch to children on port days, but not sea days, so parents will need to collect their children to feed them lunch. Dinner is served each evening, except the first night of the cruise. Parents must sign all children ages 2 to 8 in and out to camp. Children ages 9 to 11 may sign themselves in and out with parents' prior permission. There's also a small playground outside the Camp Ocean facility. Throughout the cruise, the fitness center hosts a number of free and fee-based classes. Free classes include sunrise stretch, killer abs and evening stretch. Fee-based classes range from spin classes and body sculpt boot camp to yoga and Pilates.

Other Carnival Cruise Line cruise ships

In December 2022 CCL announced that starting in May 2024, Carnival Glory will be homeported in Port Canaveral/Orlando (Florida USA). Carnival Glory attracts many families, including several multigenerational families, so passengers range in age from infants to seniors. There didn't appear to be one primary age group, but rather a mix of all ages.

We're not just viewing this ship with rose-colored lenses, either — it's clear that the fun, eye-catching experiences all around you are the real deal... Even the fantasy world of Seuss At Sea™, where your favorite books (and characters!) come to life before your eyes. And from the people-watching potential of the Lido Deck, to the see-and-be-seen White Heat Dance Club, Carnival Glory pulls out the stops. It even shows its true colors as it satisfies your stomach with sit-down dining options like the Emerald Room Steakhouse and the aptly-named Golden and Platinum Restaurants. And wait 'till you see the Camel Club Casino — proof that Carnival Glory is a real looker and a truly special cruise ship. Appointments fill quickly for sea days, so book online before sailing to ensure preferred treatments, days and times.

Twin beds do not convert to king when two uppers in use. To ride the waterslides, passengers must be at least 107 cm / 42 inches tall (no weight restrictions). Minor passengers (kids under 13 yo) need a parents’ permit. Speaking of colorful personalities, you'll enjoy a variety of stand-up comedians at The Punchliner Comedy Club™. Picture yourself grabbing a drink at the open-air RedFrog Rum Bar® or BlueIguana Tequila Bar™... Enjoy a show on the stage at Playlist Productions™, complete with singing and dancing, plus video screens that bring these productions an extra splash of color.

There’s a lineup of frozen concoctions, cocktails and margaritas served by the glass or by the pitcher, and even a special Mexican beer cocktail (yes, really). Where can you find this little slice of Mexican paradise? So stay cool and take in the bar’s vacation vibe while you kick back on your cruise – that’s what official bar mascot Blue the Iguana would tell you. This is the best room you can get… without bunking up with the guy himself. A Captain’s Suite aboard Carnival Glory features tons of indoor space, and a huge balcony when you need a little more. Back inside you’ll find a king-size bed, two full bathrooms (one with whirlpool tub), plus a separate living room that sleeps another three.

By registering with Cruise.com you will be able to view these special rates and offers. We went looking for someone to help us grill up the best burgers at sea, and we found just the guy. Try a fresh-off-the-grill burger Guy’s way, or take it off-road to our toppings bar and truly make it your own. These staterooms are great for a pair of cruisers on a budget, creatively maximizing space with a different layout — featuring one Twin bed, and either an upper Pullman or sofa bed.
